Israeli forces killed a Palestinian woman, on Thursday morning, while she was picking olives on her land in the village of Faqqu’a, northeast of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank.
Medical sources at the Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin, announced that the citizen, Hanan Abdul Rahman Abu Salama, 59, died of a critical gunshot wounds after Israeli soldiers shot her in chest with live ammunition.
Media sources said that Abu Salama was shot and critically injured while she and her family were harvesting their olive crops near the Apartheid Wall, built on the expropriated lands of Faqqu’a village.
Mahmoud Al-Saadi, the director of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (WAFA) in Jenin told WAFA News Agency that their ambulance crews transported the critically injured woman to the hospital for treatment, her death was announced later.
Sources quoted the Faqqu’a Village Council, who said that the family had obtained Israeli permits to access their lands and harvest their olive crops.
In a statement, the Palestinian Minister of Women’s Affairs, Mona Khalili denounced the direct targeting of the slain Abu Salama adding that the occupation army targets Palestinian land and deliberately deprives citizens of access to their land, and directly targets women.
Al-Khalili added that Palestinian women require immediate international protection from Israeli violations, stressing that women’s right to life and protection is a priority as long as the occupation continues its systematic policy of killing, controlling land and resources, and spreading terror.
Since the beginning of the Israeli military onslaught against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed 757 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 14 women and 165 children, and injured 6,250.
The distribution of those killed in the West Bank is as follows;Â 201 in Jenin, 172 in Tulkarem, 79 in Nablus, 75 in Hebron, 59 in Ramallah, 59 in Tubas, 47 in Jerusalem, 29 in Qalqilia, 20 in Bethlehem, 12 in Jericho, 12 inside Israel, and 4 in Salfit.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed 42,438 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, most of whom are women and children, and injured 99,246 citizens, while the bodies of thousands of citizens remained buried under the rubble of the devastated coastal enclave.
